📚Devotionals - Trying To Do New Things

TRYING TO DO NEW THINGSRosa Enid Cruz RoqueNovember 26, 2016
Sometimes God put things in our hearts to do or we want to do things like Peter did. God tell us go and do it, but when we see the wind (problems, suffering, etc.) we feel afraid. We can be sure that Jesus is with us to the very end of the age like He said in Matthew 28:20. We have to keep our eyes on Him and even if for some reason we doubt and fail, we can be sure that He is with us and He will reach out his hand and save us.

Things in life are not easy, but something to learn from this passage is that Peter tried. He was the only one who walk on water because He tried. We can also try to do the things God has placed on our hearts.

Something for us to think – What things God has put in our hearts that we should try to do?

Note – It is better to try something and fail than never try anything new and to never know if that thing was going to work.

Matthew 14:25, 32

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.

26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.

What is on my mind? Last night I woke up at 3:30 a.m and as I was trying to go back to sleep this verse came to my mind.

Matthew 16:19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

----- Bind - tie or fasten (something) tightly, tie (up), fasten (together), hold together, secure, make fast, attach; rope, strap, lash, fetter, truss,----- Loose - set free; release, free, unloose, turn loose, set loose, let loose, let go, release; untie, unchain, unfasten, unleash

📚Devotionals - The Power Of Our Words

THE POWER OF OUR WORDSRosa Enid Cruz RoqueWritten, September 2002Changes, December 17, 2014
Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of the tongue.  The Word of God teaches us that what we speak is extremely important. The words we say, will bring forth fruit.  They could bring destruction for us and for those around us or they could bring life.

Proverbs 12:18 says, Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise brings healing (NLT). Our words could be harmful to a person or they could be as medicine.

Every day we have to make decisions.  I hope everyone of us choose to speak in a way that glorifies God and brings healing to others around us.  With the Holy Spirit guiding us, we can accomplish this. I use to hear people said that "words are gone with the wind".   But the Word of God teaches me something different.  It teaches me that there is power in what we speak.  Let us Speak Life.

📚Devotionals - Suffering

SUFFERINGRosa Enid Cruz RoqueOctober 22, 2016
1 Peter 1:6, 7, 8

(Can Christians go through trials and Suffering?) - YES)

(Can we be happy even if we are going through trials) - YES

6. In all this you GREATLY REJOICE, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in ALL kinds of trials.

(What is the purpose of our testing?) - The testing of our faith

(What is the result of our testing?) - Praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

7. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

(Why Christians can be happy even in suffering?) - Because we love and believe in Jesus and we know that He is in control of everything)

8. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him AND ARE FILLED WITH AN INEXPRESSIBLE AND GLORIOUS JOY.

1 Peter 4:12,13 and 5:10

12 Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.

13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in His suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

10 In His kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, HE will restore, support, and strengthen you, and HE will place you on a firm foundation.

📚Devotionals - Salvation Through Jesus Christ

SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRISTRosa Enid Cruz RoqueJuly 1, 2015
Salvation through Jesus - (This is LOVE)

God knew what was coming to this world and because of that He sent His only son to die. Through Jesus Christ you can be save. He made this sacrifice for you.  Jesus loves you so much that He gave His life for your salvation.

John 3:16 -   For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Repentance

God wants every body to be save.  He doesn’t want anybody to perish.

Judgment through flood

In Noah’s time people perished through a flood.  The meaning of the rainbow is this - Genesis 9:12-15

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,

I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.  God was not going to destroy the people again with water.

Judgment through fire - This time it will be by fire

2 Peter 3:6-11

By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. (These are the consequences of sin)

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (This is mercy)

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives.

God loves everybody and want everybody to be save but we have to accept Him as our Savior and obey God Word.

Everything He ask of us is for our own good.  He knows better than we do.  Study the scriptures and look for what He ask of us and look also for the end of time signs

📚Devotionals - Preach The Good News

PREACH THE GOOD NEWSRosa Enid Cruz RoqueMay 7, 2015
This morning I was thinking about a Bible Verse that says that we make mistakes because we do not know the scriptures and the power of God, Matthew 22:29.  It came to my mind a conversation I had with somebody about 3 years ago when that person answered me “I didn’t know the Bible says that”.

The Holy Spirit brought to my mind that Jesus commands us to preach the gospel to every creature.  Mark 16:15. Not everybody it’s a Preacher or a Pastor, or missionary, or evangelist, etc, but all of us can preach in different ways.  For example we can preach through books, through songs, through writing quotes, through teaching and many other ways.

I purpose in my heart that I will continue to do that as long as I live.  Not my words but only the Word of God.  I will repeat what the Bible says.  I pray that I and other people will receive The Word of God and I pray God brings revelation to me and to the people that reads or hear what I write in power points, in devotionals, in songs etc.

When I write something I am not writing for a specific person at all and I hope that I don’t offend anybody.  I write it because The Bible is my guide and I am going to repeat what the Bible says.  Jesus is the center of my life and whatever I write, sing, or do including my hobbies, my websites, my blog, my devotionals and everything I do has to reflect Jesus.  One time I did tried to divide my spiritual life from whatever else I do and that is impossible because it is not me anymore.  It is God in me; He lives in me, I live for Him, which that is what I want.  We cannot put our spiritual life in one place, my job in other, my hobbies in other, no, that is a big mistake.  Everything we do has to reflect Him.

The Holy Spirit brought a story to my mind and the story goes like this.  Enid if you are going to sit on a chair and that chair is broken and nobody tells you anything you will sit down on it and you will fall.  But if somebody tells you that chair is broken you won’t sit on that chair because you know that you will fall, some people will think twice before they sit on that chair.  The same story applies to what The Bible says.  There are some people like I wrote on the beginning that doesn’t know what the Bible says and they make mistakes because they don’t know better.  There are other people that even if they read the Bible they cannot change because they have strongholds, those strongholds need to be broken and there are those that read the Bible and really don’t care what it says or want to learn from The Word.

The only thing we can do as Christians is to PREACH THE GOSPEL and let God work on the live of people.  We cannot change anybody, only God can.  We are supposed to love God, love people and love ourselves.  We are suppose to see if there is sin in us and repent and showed others that there is a way for their sins to be forgiven.  We are not supposed to attack people because they sin, because we are not perfect either and we need forgiveness every day.  Yes, we are supposed to say the truth what is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong but not attacking anybody specifically.  For example I can say that lying is wrong and the Bible says that liars wont inherit the kingdom of God but I don’t think I am suppose to say to a specific person you _________ are going to hell because you are a liar.  That is not loving a person and giving them the message of hope, like God commands us.  If is a person that you really know, you can talk with them in a loving way and show them the way to receive forgiveness. We have to follow Jesus example, He said that He came to this world not to condemned people.  His purpose was that people will be saved.

Love you all and I hope you don’t get offended with what I wrote and I am with going to write.  I do not write anything for a specific person.  I want people to know what the Bible says, the good (the things that God approve), and the bad (the things God doesn't approve). I will repeat what The Word of God says.

📚Devotionals - Prayer

PRAYERRosa Enid Cruz RoqueSeptember 25, 2017
Last night I woke up about 3:20 and I had these words on my mind.

What if we canalize (give direction or purpose to) everything we see on facebook to prayer. What if every time we see a photo of something bad that happened, at that moment we pray for it.What if somebody ask for prayer or if that person is going through something we pray at that instant for the person. What if somebody received good news we give thanks to God for helping them. What if somebody has a birthday we give thanks to God for another year God has given them.

Prayer is a powerful weapon God has given us. God answers prayers.  Can you imagine all of us praying for the same things?

If the prayer of one person do good how much the prayer of a lot of people will do.

James 5:16 - The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

--- Pray at the moment you see or hear something (Good or bad).--- Pray specifically for the need of the person or the needs of the town that is going through difficult times.

📚Devotionals - Our Daily Bread

OUR DAILY BREADRosa Enid Cruz RoqueWritten – October 2002Changes – December 18, 2014
Joshua 1:8 says, Study this book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. (NLT) God’s Word is our daily bread.  It keeps us healthy and strong.  The Bible says that we should meditate in God’s Word day and night.  Psalms 1:2, But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. (NLT)  The same way we need water and food to survive, we need God’s Word in our hearts to be able to survive in our spiritual lives and to be productive.  We need The Word also in our mouths to be able to defend ourselves against the enemy of our souls.  We have to follow Jesus example.  He used The Word, “IT IS WRITTEN”.  Let us study and learn the Word of God to have it abundant in our lives.

📚 Devotionals - Obedience Based On Love

OBEDIENCE BASED ON LOVERosa Enid Cruz RoqueMay 8, 2015

1 John 5:3 - For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.

Relationship with God, base on Love.

If our relationship with God is based on love we will obey His teachings because we love Him. We like to be with Him, we like to share with Him and we like to learn from Him. We want to make Him happy.  He is everything in our lives.  We will think all day about Him, we will talk with Him all the time and we will show Him our love.  If we make a mistake we will ask for forgiveness and continue on with our lives loving Him and thanking Him for His mercy and love.  We will obey His teachings because we love Him. He said that His commandments are not grievous and in a relationship base in Love they won’t be.

Relationship with God, based on religion.

If our relationship with God is based on religion we will obey God following rules.  We will do things because we feel we have to and because it is the correct thing to do.  We know there are things that we shouldn't do because they are wrong and we maybe don’t do it but is following rules.  Soon you will discover that following rules will become grievous to you. He said that His commandments are not grievous and they are not.

📚 Devotionals - Green Leaves or Dry Leaves

GREEN LEAVES OR DRY LEAVESRosa Enid Cruz RoqueNovember 25, 2014

Today I've been thinking about the plants I have in my house. On Saturday when I saw them, they looked ugly. Some leaves were dry and the plants looked like they were dying. I removed the dried leaves, cut some leaves that did not look good and put some water.

Today, two days later, the plants are alive again and they look beautiful. The leaves are green.

As I was pulling the dry leaves and cutting what it looks ugly, I was pondering what happen to us when we begin to stay away from God. If we don’t get close to God, If we stop praying (talking to Him and listening to Him), If we stop reading The Word (learning from Him and letting Him speak to us through His Word), spiritually speaking our lives start to wither also like those leaves. Our lives dry and we start dying spiritually. Plants need water to stay alive and beautiful and we need to stay glued to God to be alive spiritually and to be productive bearing fruit in this land.

John 15:5-6

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in Me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

I pray to God to reveal to our hearts how important it is to stay close to Him, always in communication with Him. There is nothing better in this world

📚 Devotionals - Fathers and Mothers

FATHERS AND MOTHERSRosa Enid Cruz RoqueJune 17, 2021

Sometimes I like to write and today was one of those days. I wrote this devotional and 5 songs. Now I have to get the music for the songs.

In the last few months I have been thinking about the things that made me happy when I was a little girl.  A highlight or, one of the most important things when I was growing up was my visits to my grandmother’s house in Guavate. My mom used to go to see her mom, if I remember correctly every week. When we got there we went to see my grandma and we talked with her for a little while, then I visited my aunts and uncles and then I went to play with my cousins. I really loved to go to Guavate. I used to go to the river, I went to pick up berries and fruits and run through my grandma’s land. This was one of the most important parts of my life. Every time I went there it I felt so happy.

Thinking about this reminded me about a Bible verse that says Honor your father and your mother. Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16, Matthew 15:4, Ephesians 6:2,3.

What honor means - to regard or treat someone with admiration and great respect. If your parents and grandparents are alive, call them, send them a text message, visit them. Ask them how they are doing. Let them know that you care for them. As people get older their minds start to change and they say things that maybe make you feel embarrassed, or they repeat themselves a lot, or they do other things you don’t like. Treat them always with respect, have patience with them, be kind with them and love them. Probably when you were a child you sometimes embarrassed them when you wanted something in the store and you started to scream. But they still were patient with you and loved you with all their hearts. I wish my Mom, Dad, Grandparents and all my family will still be here.

Mother’s day is over and Father’s day is in 3 days. Called them, make them feel special; let them know how important are they for you. Don’t forget to call your dad this Sunday. If you have them close visit them and hug them. Don’t wait until is too late and then regret not spending time or talking on the phone with them. Time in this earth is short; life is like a flower, today is here and tomorrow is gone. Another thing, Father’s and Mother’s days is not about gifts, is about loving, honoring and respecting them like the Bible teach us. Most important of all is to honor our Father God. Let GOD know how much you love Him.

Note – As I was writing this, I mentioned Father’s Day and Mother’s Day because that was one of the things that made me thing about this subject. It’s so sad to see sons and daughters treating their Father’s and Mother’s so disrespectful. Honoring God, your Father, Mother, Grandmother and Grandfather is something you do everyday not only on Father’s and Mother’s Day. But Father’s day is a day honoring fatherhood and paternal bonds. Call your dad.

Love You All,Rosa Enid Cruz Roque

📚 Devotionals - Adore Him and Love Him

ADORE HIM AND LOVE HIMRosa Enid Cruz RoqueAugust 5, 2011

God gave me these words more than 2 weeks ago, they are still in my mind and I want to share them with all of you. I was at a prayer meeting at church and I didn’t sleep well the night before, maybe about 4 hours. I was physically exhausted and I was very sleepy. I tried to concentrate but I couldn’t. I told my Father God that I was having a hard time talking to Him because I was very tired. His answer was “don’t try so hard, just PRAISE AND LOVE ME.”

These words penetrated my heart so powerfully that every time I think about them I just start to cry (I am not a person that cries at all time). Every time I think about what God said to me I feel the Holy Spirit ministering to my life in a beautiful way, I feel His love as He is hugging me.

We Christians complicate our relationship with God so much. He wants you to ADORE HIM AND LOVE HIM. He will guide you and me when we speak to Him. Delight yourself in His presence, there is nothing more beautiful in this world than to be in His presence, feeling His love and knowing that He is with you. He will fill your heart with His love. Say thanks to Him, TELL HIM HOW MUCH YOU LOVE HIM. Be still in His arms of  love, without hurry. That is your time with Him, God and you.

He said that He is with you till the end of the world. (Matthew 28:20 - and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.)  You know that He is with you, like the verse says “ALWAYS”. Just Praise Him and Love Him.

📚Devotionals - Don't Be Afraid

DON'T BE AFRAIDRosa Enid Cruz Roque
Matthew 10:29-31

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

God tells us that we don’t have to be afraid. He says that He takes care of the sparrows and that we are worth more than many sparrows. He loves us and we have value in His eyes. He also says that even the very hairs of our heads are all numbered. God knows everything. He will take care of us. We don’t have to be afraid.
